CV don't launch issue

Post by MrBlizzard »

march 6th 1944

three japan Air TF move close to some Allied TFs (including one with some CVEs) but none of them is able to launch a single strike. Every setting seems fine, I can't really explain this [&:]

The weather on enemy TF is light cloud

The weather on my TFs is:
- extreme overcast
- partial cloud
- light rain.

The detection on enemy TF is very good (All my 3 airTF launched search planes in morning and afternoon and found the enemy AirTF; I had 11 jill and 8 judy downed by enemy CAP in search phase)

It looks like a very good situation for my carriers to launch strike. Any clue?

This is a sample of settings for air groups. Leaders are very good ones.

Have you placed more than 5 squadrons on the carriers?

More than 5 squadrons = no flight ops

Do you have clouds turned on?

Is the enemy TF in hex with heavy thunderstorms?

I ran the save on the latest build (official patch 7 + newer patch (unrelated to this)) and the Japan planes took out some the Allied ships.
I suspect that you may have got a set of bad die rolls.

Even using the official patch 7 (1123x10 is same as patch 7), I get the planes to attack, but then I just noticed I don't have same pwhexe as you have, some would expect some random numbers to be different.

Yes, we're using extended map with stacking limits; this should be the reason for PWHEXE difference.
So it seems I just was very unlucky [:(] as my dear opponent MrKane already suspected.
Thank you for your time Michael [:)]

After this experience and explanation (thank you again [:)] ) I've still got a doubt:
That the set of random numbers generated is not so random actually.

It seems impossible that 3 different TF with good leaders and good weather, so close to enemy, got all of them, in both morning and afternoon phase bad rolls.
It should be 6 bad numbers against small odds! [&:]
It could happen of course, but it seems the same probability as to win new year's day lottery.

I suspect that the generation of multiple random numbers is affected by the first number extracted: If the first goes bad also the others go.
Just my thoughts [:)]
