I was looking for a PBEM opponent and one person stated "Mild Winter, no +1 Attack/Defense"...what is +1 attack/defense and where is it located? Thanks.

its now an optional rule that can be used from June 41 to March 42. +1 on attack means that if the Soviet player is attacking the final odds shift +1 in their favour (so 1-1 becomes 2-1), +1 on defense means if the Soviets are defending the Germans lose a shift (so 2-1 becomes 1-1).

general view seems to be that the first version (which was hard wired into the game) was a fix for other problems, now those other problems have been eliminated in the patching process its too much of a bonus for the Soviets.

I'd say they are potentially useful balancing rules either between players of uneven experience or with the AI.

if you play without it, there is a nice secondary bonus. The threshold for the creation of Gds formations is a lot lower (to reflect the lower level of attacks), and Gds are very very important to surviving 1942.
