Combat losses

Post by Meyer1 »

From the manual:
Much of the equipment “lost” during combat is not actually destroyed.
Instead, it is considered damaged or temporarily unserviceable.
This damaged equipment goes to the Replacement
Pool unless the owning unit is Out of Supply. In the case of Air
and Naval equipment, the fraction of damaged equipment going
to the Replacement Pool is proportional to the owning unit’s
Proficiency.

So, how much of the land equipment losses are going back to the pool (if in supply). anybody knows how this is calculated?
Also, are infantry squads considered "equipment", and so that is good for them as well?

I don't know how it is calculated. You can monitor it yourself. Pick a category, note how many are On Hand, run combats and keep track of how much of that equipment is lost, when the turn is over check the On Hand again. That will tell you how many of the lost actually went to the unlost. It's usually quite a bit, and squads are also included.

I imagine the level of supply, readiness, veteran/green status etc all play a part...but the actual calculations require the blood of your firstborn to get hold of.....or something like that! [&o][&o]

Just found this Jamian post in the Rugged Defense forum:
Approximately 1/3 of most equipment that are losses goes into the on hand column, and about 2/3 goes into the lost column. There is some randomization on this. Naval and air equipment however, has the proportion losses assigned to on hand inventory roughly equivalent to the unit's proficiency, with the rest of the losses going into the lost pool. Again, there is a slight degree of randomization in these effect
