How to make an attack

Post by Fred98 »

According to the tutorial;

Select friendly unit and place cursor over enemy unit.

I agree I see a cursor that resembles an attack.

I now right click on the enemy unit and the attack menu is supposed to open. The attack menu does not open.

I suspect there is an option somewhere that stops the attack menu opening. Which option could that be?

Hmm ... right clicking on an enemy unit gives me this box. I don't readily see where it can be turned off. You must be doing something I am not doing, but I don't know what it could be.

That menus is the same as the one in the tutorial.

My right click does nothing.

I don't see a setting that turns that box off. Could you possibly provide a screen shot like the one I did so we can see what is happening ?

Attached my tutorial slides which should provide the basic graphical reference about the game and combat system.

When looking for game information be sure to read the 'What's New' file. It is located in the Operational Art of War main folder.

On the main screen MENU BAR select PLAY. Then select PLAYER OPTIONS. Then click the MENU SHOW DELAY button to enter the delay before the menu shows. The lower the number the faster the menu will pop up.

Hopefully this will be improved in the next patch, er, version.

I should add. There is a lot of information some of which is poorly explained so be prepared to spend some time to properly understand how everything works. As this game has matured it has become more complex 'under the hood'. Getting to know it intimately takes some time.

You have to hold the right click for a moment. You can also use the "P" key.

Actually you can set it to zero so the attack or combat window pops up immediately. No waiting.

Yes you are correct, I was just explaining the default behaviour. And actually I prefer a little delay, otherwise you have to always use the planner.
