WitPTracker used to be restricted to Java 6, but no longer. The latest version works with any release of Java.

Great news trying out tracker now, thanks guys, should be easy to run one or the other or both.

Just be sure you are using the 32-bit version of Java 6, 7, 8, what have you, even if you're using a 64-bit operating system... (as I learned the hard way [;)])

The only thing I can't find is the combat report in tracker. So far it seems really good, a bit over my head at the moment at everything presented but seems self explanatory with some time. Under Intel Operations I can see my ASW air units attacking but can't find where the info on the combat report is presented. Can someone help me to locate this? Thanks

The combat report is not read in. Too much data unfortunately for the DB structure and Java memory requirements.

You can run both Tracker and Combat Reporter at the same time.

I run the game in full screen mode and use the windows key to drop out and
see Tracker and Combat Reporter which runs on my desktop.

I run Combat Reporter to the right side and Tracker to the left.

Two issues:

1. The link to the latest version of tracker doesn't work for me. It seems to be saying there's a server problem, the server or file doesn't exist.

2. I've been trying to start a game with the RHS mod, using Tracker 1.92. I get this error message:

I'm new at this I hope the jpeg of that error message was imbedded.

Answer to 1 ; you have to use the little Arrow to the extreme right of the page, all else is clickable but not working.So the Arrow
on the same line as the "name'.zip file on the right.

I dunno enough to answer question 2 so thats still open.

For #2, use the latest version (1.10). Otherwise you need to copy the pwsdll.dll file over from the game folder.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Thanks for the advice. I've tried clicking on pretty much every icon on the web page, and it keeps telling me the file does not exist.

Saved game failed to load

Post by SierraJuliet »

I've posted this on the tech support page but thought I might get a result on this page.

Looking for some help and hoping I've made a simple error to fix.

Today I got tracker working. Yay!

When I went back into the game to load up the saved game I got a "saved game failed to load" message. I've tried starting a new scenario and that works as expected. I tried every slot that had a saved game in with the same result except for slots 198 and 199 which decided to load just fine.

Any pointers greatly appreciated and if more information is needed let me know.

Thanks

Hi Steve -
Not sure if your remember me... another Brisbane lad.

Anyway, sounds a little strange.
You have the witptracker.properties file configured properly, pointing to the right file and location?

Could you please copy the file into the witptracker folder and configure the saveMode = 0 and the right file name. Make sure you delete all the trackerdb.* files and try to initialize.

Also, double check all the other settings please.

Cheers

This is the properties file? I think it is good as tracker worked quite ok.

Now this might be the problem. When I downloaded I sent it to the Matrix Games Folder. I should have selected a folder somewhere else perhaps?

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[1]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[0]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[xxxx]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae006.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[1]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[wpae006]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

Looks okay and I have never had a problem with it inside the matrixgames folder. But you might as well experiment and put it on your desktop. But as you can read other files - correctly???, it doesn't really make sense...

Try a fresh install of tracker and see if it still poses a problem.

The only other thing that I can think of is that you have applied the patch since the old save files and now you need to use the correct dll for that save.

If you started the game pre-patch, you need the old dll and then the turns after the patch you need the new dll ...

get me ?

edit1: What I mean is the associated save needs the dll it was saved with...
edit2: If this is the case, you can open the file in WITP-AE and resave it using the new Dll and then as long as Tracker has the new dll, it will read. ;-)

Just to be clear: WitPTracker 1.10 (latest version) uses the pwsdll7.dll file, not the pwsdll.dll file from the game. This is one of the new changes.

Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

... Not sure about the new build as I don't have the code, Floyd will have to suggest a solution if it was saved under the old version
