[NON-ISSUE] Difference between Retail and Professional?

Post by danpass »

Not really sure where to look for this lol .........

I'm curious how much I can modify/add units in the Retail version of the game.

Thanks!

Hi,

If you mean direct-DB editing (beyond what the scenario editor offers), this is not supported or allowed in the retail version. It is available as a feature on the Pro version.

Ok, thanks.

Does that mean I can only edit the scenario?

No ability to add units? (a new plane, etc)

How much is the Pro version?

I'm just trying to gauge my investment level in order to run various scenarios. If I cannot add in the retail version it won't help me.

Maybe if you state exactly the unit and config you are trying to get in, that would help.

A hypersonic spaceplane.

Why? Does it matter?

You can request totally-new platforms and systems on the dedicated DB requests thread: tm.asp?m=3436106

It helps a lot if you provide detailed tech data on what you need. "Hi guys, I would like to have platform-X added for a scenario I am preparing, here's a 100-page tech description on it" is a lot better than "I want X, why doesn't your DB already have it". Operational status (or proximity to it) also counts.

Thanks.

Ok. Thanks.

I guess that means I cannot add it myself.

Hi Dan

No you cannot although you can modify existing units. If you want something added just post to the Db request strings preferably with pictures and sources.

The pro version is priced according to the features you'd like and generally sold to organizations not individuals given the cost of the time and effort involved.

Thanks

Mike

That's nice and I may use that in the future. However the question was "What is the cost of the pro version with database editing?" Or when will database editing be available in this edition?

Hi Kritter

There are no plans for a separate db editor to be included in the civilian version at this point. You have a number of edit tools in the game to perform most functions. If you'd like more please let us know exactly what they are and we'll certainly consider it.

As far as pro pricing we can't do that in a web forum post but if you're interested please do pm me with your private email.

Thanks

Mike

I'm not sure, but I think that translates as "real expensive" [8D]

Pricing is comparable to other pro products but it is not something that would be discussed here mostly because its not the entertainment product. If anybody does have a serious interest though please do contact us via pm.

Thanks

Mike
