Replica WW2 aircraft

Post by m10bob »

Somebody mentioned in another thread replica WW2 aircraft being built..

Here is a Texas factory producing Nakajima "Oscar" aircraft..

Named this thread so others might add other planes to the catalog??

For economy sake, I have always been keen to see those "3/4" scale replicas show up at air shows, etc..

The site could use updating, as it indicates that the first Oscar flight will take place "...by the end of 2003." Does anyone have an update?

Some things I found...

The Fw-190 project (site is in German)
http://www.flugwerk.de/html/page.php?GID=19&SID=4

A guy building a one of Spitfire:

After the cold war ended, someone found an abandoned Yak factory in Russia that still had all the tooling to build Yak-3s. Yakovlev restarted production of them using Alison engines which are about the same size as the original, but geared to spin the prop in the opposite direction. A number have been sold as Yak-3M.

I've read that there are several builders making authentic replicas of WW I aircraft. Though I would expect the engines are somewhat different.
