So, I brought my 4 battleships to bombard for an invasion, needless to say, the results were poor and I got a bunch of very angry marines.
The stats show a Battleship to be only slightly better than a single hvy art tube. Am I missing something here ?

No. Ships are way to weak in standard ruleset.

There is no such thing as a historically accurate strategy game. Every game stops being historically accurate from the very first move player do. First unit that moves ahistorically, first battle with non-historical results, mean we ride in unknown.
