[FIXED B678.14] ASW Aircraft still having trouble lining up on target

Post by kaburke61 »

Hey Again,

It looks like maybe there is still a little tweaking needed on this. While better,
this particular aircraft (and I've seen it in other tests) needed three tries to line up
on target. I've noticed helos exhibit the same behavior, but because they can basically
circle right overhead, it is less noticeable.

Thanks for your attention,

Kevin

I'm not a dev but tested this save anyway.

I got same results, not sure if it is as intended or not? The aircraft circled about three times and then made a successful torpedo drop. Seems a bit strange, to spend 5 minutes 4 kilometers away from the target before attacking, one would think the torpedo would be better dropped immediately before the contact is lost. But I don't know, maybe is normal...

Hey There,

Yep, much improved....Thx!

I have noticed cases where it runs around the outside of an AOU if present, but only once in a while,
and most times it will turn into the AOU area after a few circles and start xcrossing it.

A question on-topic mostly, and mostly for the AI operations. When a MAD-enabled aircraft gets an initial
"hit" from a MAD, would it make sense to pop a passive buoy immediately (one shallow/one deep/both? I'm
not sure of that part)? I tend to do that (or pop a Active if I don't care he knows I'm above, depending
on situation) most of the time.

I've noticed some times if a buoy doesn't get dropped, AI-wise there is a higher chance they will not reacquire
after they get turned around for the next pass.

Yeah I would think so.

We honestly haven't programmed any advanced AI for this yet. We do have patterns etc. on the list but at some point we really need to start think about this more for a deeper implementation.

Yep, that would be cool, as I love the Sub/ASW portion of this game the most.

Thanks for the great work! Take it easy,

Kevin
