That's a fighter or fighter-bomber, so CAP might have caused that plane to jettison its ordnance.

BTW, tough to read that in paragraph form instead of in combat report form. [:)]

The Franks were being used to straf/lowN attack your PTs.  Some of the Franks were forced to jettison their bombs in order to counter the Lightnings.  You were therefore informed that they went into their attack phase without bombs but the string message still records what they had when they entered the preliminary dogfight.
