Post by MrKane »

[font="Courier New"]Well, again Allied side. I have one game running as Japan, however my opponent is so good that I am feeling humiliated and there is no way I will ever public any information form that game :D
Maybe with this fresh start my star will rise little bit ;)

I am playing against Castor Troy, we are at Dec 14 and game looks very promising.

We are playing: IronBabesB(Scen030) with extended map.

Settings:
FOW ON
Advanced weather OFF <<<<<------ First time
PDU ON <<<<<------ Well this is going to be problem soon
Historical First turn OFF
Surprise ON
Realistic R&D ON
Reliable USN torps OFF
No unit withdrawals OFF
Reinforcements for both sides +/- 60 days
turn cicle 1 day

Very few HR:
- no new Allied TFs on turn 1
- only one Japanese aerial port strike on turn 1
- cease fire in China until 1 Feb 42
- no Allied strategic bombing of occupied Allied territory at any time, Allied strategic bombing only allowed on Japanese held territory of 12/7/41
- no Japanese strat bombing in China
- no Allied 4E bombers on naval attack below 10.000ft. Valid for ARMY 4Es, not valid for any Allied NAVY heavy bombers at any time
- PP for restricted units crossing land borders like going from Manchuko into China or India into Burma
no restrictions for nightbombing concerning manpower, tactical night bombing of airfields limited to 2 squadrons per theatre [/font]

Allied air losses: 14 [total 14], Japan air losses: 27 [total 27]

Allied ships losses: 1 x DD, 7 x SS, 1 x TK, 1 x AVD, 3 x PT, 1 x xAKL
Japan ships losses:

Well Castor Troy's opening was complete surprise for me. He has just send all of his assets against Manila port.

He added just two small landing, one at Singkawang with 91st Nav Gd Battalion and second at Vigan with 1st SNLF. Except that there is no sight of any amphib task force. Full KB + 3 TFs of light warships are parked next to SubicBay.

It should not be surprise for anyone that Manila port does not look well right now. Most of ship are seriously taking water, several others are already on the bottom of Manila harbour.

On the way to Singkawang his heavy cover TF sunk xAKL Dai Tung.
There was several sweep too. However only over sky of Manila was my fighters try to intercept incoming strikes. As result I have lost there 4 P-40E in dogfights and one due crash landed. Additionally a few airframes were lost on the ground due KB strike on AF.

And on end Force Z made only 3 hex full speed move and decided to park at Mersing where was attacked by two formations of G3M armed with bombs(Castor's TF loaded supplies at night and base supplies level was to low to fly with torps).

Well, I am going to be honest with you. I have no clue, I have not asked this question during HR's negotiation.
But, I like it.

But, I like it.
I can see this working both ways:
- the Allies get to withdraw their exposed troops into more defensible terrain and fill out the TOE of some units a bit.
- the Japanese get to reorganize their forces, perhaps to make a tank army that can smash through any defense and put the units in their jumping-off positions for Feb. 1

We are playing extended map without SL, maybe he feels confident there and he wants give me chance to resist.

Well, with KB parked at front of Subic Buy all ships in Manila Bay are doomed.
However 3 US smokers got window of opportunity at night. Light cruiser Natroi supported by 6 destroyers was attacked from behind by RN destroyers running from Hongkong. One smoker was lost on mine however 3 managed to escape trap.

It was bad and lucky day for Big E. It got into walfpack Japanese subs and eat 2 fishes. Good news is that fail on my side it will cast me only 27 days in shipyard.

Annihilation of ships in Manila started with swept of 30 A6M2 at 25k feet.
US fighters were recovering after they losses at Dec 7, so incoming Zeros were intercepted just by 4 brave P-26A of Philippines Air Force. However fight was short and ended with 2 P-26A meeting ground. Next doom itself came, almost 300 G4M, G3M, D3A, B6N bombed port and ships in Manila bay.

In Malaya Yamada Det-S1 swept Singapore AF. This time raid was intercepted by RAF fighters. 59 Buffalos and 9 Blenheim engaged 18 Zeros in epic dogfight.
They managed to destroy 8 enemy fighters for cost of 10 Buffalos and 1 Bleinheim.

Allied air losses: 0 [total 51], Japan air losses: 4 [total 49]
Allied pilots losses: 0 WIA, 0 KIA [total 5 WIA, 4 KIA]

Allied ships losses: CL, SS, MTB, TK, xAP, xAK.

Heavy cruisers Myoko, Haguro, Nachi escorted by light cruiser Nagara and 4 destroyers are hunting for my ships on run south of Mindano. Somehow all of my ships managed to evade his warships and escape.

SS Sturgeon got little damage form two Japanese SC. But it can continue patrol with need heading back to port. The same fate meet SS Pike. Both are operating near Vigan.

Two escorts, destroyer and APD were attacked at Takao by 7 MTB from Honkong. I was hoping to catch some transport not warships :(

It was bad day for light cruiser Dragon. It was torpedoed by I-155 near Toboali. Two fishes were enough to sunk cruiser.

Clark was sept by two groups of A6M2 at 25k feet altitude. I decided to not fight here right now, to many zeros, to few P-40.

Group of 28 Oscars swept Taiping, I have no fighters there so strike targeted empty sky.

Hankong AF was bombed by hordes of Ki-48. AF is closed.

KB is moving west and it managed to sunk xAP Condesa near Puerto Princesa.
It is time for Force Z to leave Singapore. It will head Batavia for the moment.

Two Seagull attacked Castor's ships near Vigan. They installed one 250lbs SAP bomb into xAK Sydney Maru hull. Reports suggest sinking 2 guns and 4 vehicles :D

Singkawang has fall. It is time to run to the hill :)

On my side I am loading a four xAKL and xAK with supplies on Java.
One xAK and one xAKL group will try to slip to Singapore with 80k supplies.
Similar package will try slip into Manila Bay. Now when KB is sailing west this plan has chance for success.

Clark is going to be my main point of resistance on Luzon.

Still not clue what to do with 18th UK Div.

US Cruisers are heading back towards Luzon, they will try to open passage for transports with supplies if necessary.

In spite of giving no info on the game, can we know who is such a good player? [:)]

Allied air losses: 1 [total 58], Japan air losses: 3 [total 52]
Allied pilots losses: 1 WIA, 0 KIA [total 6 WIA, 4 KIA]

Allied ships losses: AS, TK, xAK, 12 xAKL, xAP, MBT

Reinforcements:

This time Japanese cruisers operating south of Jolo got some luck and they intercepted and sunk 4 Philippines xAKLs near Talaud-eilanden.
And they got 2 more few hours later. And 6 more some time after that

I-154 sunk TK Semiramis near Toboali.
I-121 sunk xAK John Lykes near Soerabaja.

Hongkong's MTBs engaged 3 Japanese xAKL near Swatow got a few hits on them.
Next they intercepted enemy convoy and suffer form escort ships. Two MBT sunk, for no gain.

Four Seagull slip through Tainan's Kukotai CAP and scored 3 250lbs SAP hits on xAK Tenzan Maru near Vigan. Pilots reports say that ship was heavily damaged and on fire.

There was more small naval attack on both side without any success.

91st Naval Guard Unit captured Singkawang, so tomorrow I can expect squadron of torpedo bombers there. Should not be a problem, most of ships are already out if range.

And here is bad part of day, I mean very bad. Christina droped paratroopers today in 3 places in Malaya. Two of them where unguarded and he has capured them. Kuala Lumpur and Malacca are in his hand now. 2nd Agryll Battalion has safe for us Temuloh. It is very good move on his side. Now a few my units are forced to fight they way to Singapore and time is running out. I have just spotted huge amphib task force escorted by KB heading towards Mersing.

Huge dogfight over Singapore has happen today. Three groups of enemy fighters swept base at 25k altitude, they were KB fighters groups each 18 Zeros. Base was defended by five RAF Squadrons plus one AVG squadron, 20 H81-A3, 59 Buffalos and 2 Mohawks IV. Dogfight ended with loss of 31 Buffalos and 9 H81-A3 for 22 A6M2. Additionally KB search effort over Singapore cost him 22 B5N2 and 20 D3A1 shoot down by CAP. Looks like he is trying to sink my small ships using massive settings for search mission and he is avoiding naval attack. I have lost 6 xAK there but lucky for me convoy was on way back to Java. It was one of 2 convoys witch unloaded 45K Supplies in Singapore yesterday. Now base has 110K supplies. So if I manage to fight my way back to base with India's troops and CAP hold a week longer I will have chance to build up fort level and make significant resistance there. Good news is that Japanese destroyers after engagement sailed directly into minefield :D

SS KXIV decided to engage xAKL using it's gun near Singawang. It scored 23 hits on enemy but is was force to widtdraw anyway due lack of ammo.

This time Castor brought elite to Singapore. Base was swept by 32 Zeros of Tainan Kukotai today. It did not went well for defenders as Zeros came at 29k feet altitude and enjoyed dive bonus. 7 Buffalos and 5 H81-A3 were lost for just 2 A6M2. My pilots need day or two of rest now . AVG/1 switched a/c to P-39D ;) Best fighter I have now in pool (little over 50).

Hong Kong still under bombs from hordes of K-48.

Six Seagull managed to score 4 hits on two his xAKs near Vigan. Both ships are on fire.

19 G4M bombed damaged ships running south from Manila. AM Quail was lost.

Two Kingfishers attacked and scored 3 250lbs SAP hits on xAK Igasa Maru near Miri. Ship is heavily damaged and on fire.

SS KXIV scored 2 torpedo hits and probably sunk xAKL near Singawang.

Well next unsuccessfully attack on Hong Kong. However losses become meaningful for defenders.

Mari has fallen today.

In Malaya his paratroops are become problem, they captured Port Dickson and resisted my counter-attack at Temouloh.

Forts:
Moulmein expands fortifications to size 1

Four IJN destroyers sunk one MBT, 2 xAKL and xAKL near Kwangchowan.
I could not save those ship, what ever order they got, whatever settings for path and tolerance I set, they always run towards China :(

Now 3rd Kukotai and Tainan Kukotai are sweeping Singapore. They did meet any resistance, my fighter's pilots are resting. Most of pilots reach over 40 point in fatigue. I am very short on pilots, so my squadrons are operating undermanned. Additionally I have over 29 fighters pilots WIA plus 21 KIA :(

Ships near Siagao are still refuelling to move and are suffering from his G4M raids, no clue what is going on there.

I was expecting landing at Mersing tonight so I have sent there a few HDML.
However there was no landing, it seems to me his transports are heading back east ???? And my HDML were sunk by 9 G3M2 from Saigon.

Well every game has to end. Castor now have low flying CAP over Vigan, so not more Seagull raids there :(. I lost one today to his Ki-43.

Hong Kong has fallen. It is not surprise :D

I-23 sunk xAKL Malama near Lahaina. My ASW teams and planes are still incapable to clear PH waters :(

Castor send another big sweep to Singapore today. This time all my fighters were send to intercept at they max possible altitude. It seems to me that this tactic pay off in this case. Only a few Zeros got dive bonus and dogfight was very intense. His A6M2 came in three waves 31, 8, 36. Looks like Tainan and 3rd Kukoti, so his elite. As usually not all my fighters engaged by they made they best and shoot down 20 Zeros for 10 Buffalos, 8 P-40E, 7 H81-A3.
I am sure that presence of P-40 were nasty surprise for him, soon he will see another one. AVG/1 is now armed with P-39D :D. It cast me all my PP to change leaders and move them to Singa, but it seems that it was worth. They performed better than others a/c in this fight. I hope that he will be forced to give up or send army fighters. I am sure that at this point of game he cannot replace his pilots easily yet.

My Indian brigades recaptures Kuala Lumpur, however his paratroops captured Mersing. He is using small part of his para units to capture my bases. It is very nasty tactic in my opinion but well can do the same to him later :D.

And yet another big raid over Rangoon :( Any hope to finding one more fighter squadron in India ??? No luck so far.
