2560x1440 resolution issue
I used to play on an iMac 27" display connected to pc with minidisplayport cable at 2560x1440 fullscreen resolution, recently i bought a new 27" Asus PG278Q screen with the same native resolution and my exectutable line is no longer working
"D:\Wargames\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the Pacific Admirals Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -px2560 -py1440 -deepcolor -cpu8 -multiaudio -dd_sw -f
Any ideas on what it can be? (the max i can get is 1920x1080)

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
I'm kind of curious on this as well, as I'm thinking about getting a UHD monitor in the next few months and wonder if it would be compatible with WITP-AE.

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
i have made no progress on this issue yet, pretty weird cause on my previous 2560x1440 display worked flawlessly
RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
i have an asus PB278 and it works ok in 2560x1440 (win7 64bit)
using: -cpu4 -multiaudio -dd_sw -px2560 -py1440 -altFont
i don't use this res however as its way too small for my eyes

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
mine switch to the basic 4:3 (stretched) resolution
RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
I tried to get mine setup for UHD but couldn't get it to work right. At 2560x1440 a chunk of the game was cut off on the left and on the bottom (with both windowed and fullscreen). I tried going with slightly smaller resolutions to see if I could get it to fit but any time I used any resolution other then the specific screen resolutions it reverted to some tiny 4:3 resolution.
In the end I just went with " -w -skipVideo -cpu3 -deepColor -px1920 -py1080 " and have it windowed and floating around as a smaller screen inside my large screen. The actual realestate of 1920x1080 on my new screen is still larger then my old screen so I'm happy enough. Though it would have been nice to have a full screen of witpAE at 2560x1440.
Good luck.

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
Hello all.
I recently decided to buy WITPAE although I fear it will be months (years ?) before I will start to really play this beast...[:'(]
For starters, I have a tech question:
I have vanilla game, with latest patch, stock map, no mods, running on bootcamp Windows 7 on a iMAc27', with a desktop resolution of 2560x1440.
I tried to use the handles to occupy the whole screen with the map, but it does not work.
With:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -px1920 –py1080
or
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -px2560 –py1440
with or without "-f", I get the same result as with no handles at all: the game starts fullscreen, not windowed, but the map occupies the center of the screen, with black borders around it, just like the options menu. No difference whatsoever with or without the handles.
Nevertheless, the map looks fine, I do not notice any lag whatsoever, no audio problems, no delays, etc.
I would just like to know if it is possible to play with the stock map at 2560x1440...
Thanks for any answers
Regards

Did you install any patches? The original release of the game doesn't support the resolution flags. I think that was added with the second patch.

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
Try this command line:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px1920 –py1080
or
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px2560 –py1440
You need the -w in the command line to activate windows mode.
Also consider -colorBlind
Also consider selecting Compatibility Mode Tab and selecting Windows Vista or even XP
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px1920 –py1080
or
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w -px2560 –py1440

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
Many thanks for all replies ! [&o]
I am indeed using latest official patch.
Maybe the reason for my issue is that although my desktop is 2560x1440, I am running my windows desktop at 150% scale...
I will try your sugestions, and also see if not scaling up the desktop I can get the "fullscreen map" - although I find that not scaling things up I have a rather difficult time reading up stuff..
Best regards

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
Feedback: nothing works...[&:]
- I turned off the upscaling of windows desktop - now really at 2560x1440, and rebooted.
- Either with no handles, or with
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px2560 –py1440
with or without XP compatibility ON, and running as admin, always the map appears in the center, with black borders on either side
If instead of "-f" I use "-w", the game just runs in a small window, occupying less than half of my desktop space.
I bit baffled, although as I say, that's the only performance or display issue I have: I simply cannot get the game (map) to work at 2560x1440...
Many thanks for your time

You mentioned Bootcamp, right? maybe one of the other packages works better (Parallels, or something?).

Hi
Yes, I have Parallels too but does not make any diference because it opens up my bootcamp Windows
Using Bootcamp is exactly like running native Windows: my hard drive has 2 partitions, one of them for Windows 7 Home, that is exactly like running it from a PC.

I have the Asus ROG Gsync monitor and I have it running fullscreen at 2560x1440, are you sure your editing the properties of the Quickstart Icon and not the Default Desktop Game Menu Icon (that uses autorun.exe). I created a new Desktop shortcut to "War in the Pacific Admirals Edition.exe" that's in your game folder, that is the Quickstart .exe. I put -f -px2560 -py1440 in the target space of that icons properties and it works great.
As sanderz says though everything is quite small for my eyes also, may give 1920x1080 a try.

Thanks !
I was indeed using the quickstart entry on the start menu of Windows but it didn't work. But creating a direct link to the game's exe and using in it the handles does the trick !
Many thanks for the tip ! [&o][&o]
PS: and yes, 2560x1440 is almost unreadable to me, but 1920x1080 is great !

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue
I am going to put myself out here as a complete novice on several levels.
I am new to the game and anxious to start. I would like to figure out a display issue I get from the start. I have the basic game, no mods, I believe I am updated to the latest update.
When the displays for say air craft comes up I still see the map over some of the text. So, I don't get the full display.
Is this a resolution issue? I have a wide monitor but I don't have any special settings. Should I be adding those resolution setting to the end of the game address?
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer
