One thing I've noticed the AI does after taking one of the bases up the west coast of Malay is it forms a TF, loads the units, and sails around Sumatra and sometimes around Australia to get the troops somewhere. This almost always happens before the capture of Singapore so the TF is avoiding the CD guns at Singapore, but it is kind of goofy.

I think this could be solved by first having the units march back to the east coast of Malay before heading off for their next destination. It will also get them there quicker.

I havent played this game since 2010 because the AI was so terrible. I would like to try again after Andy makes his changes to the A.I.

I see there was a big patch back in 2012, how is the A.I. right now after that big patch?

AFAIK patch had nothing to do with the AI, it just fixed game items and 'bugs'. TBH I have yet to find an AI that's that challanging unless you give it some sort of massive advantage. A bit like Scen2, wasn't that written to make the AI more challenging for an Allied human against a Japanese AI? I look at the AI as a tool to get to know the game. Then you need to find a 'tricksy human' to get the full game experience.[:'(]

Not that that's an easy thing to do with this game and I find myself looking to somehow clear my schedule to be able to take on a human opponent. There's always retirement... that's coming soon.[:D]

The Ai improved a bit in the patch but its not easy the game is too big and the AI doesn't 'think' its reacting and doing what I told it to do via the scripts.

Reality is Scen 1 is not really fit to be played v the Ai except for new players to get a challenge Scen 2 would be the minimum recommendation and actually for someone that's played the game more than once or twice I would go to one of the ironman variants personally otherwise the Ai simply doesn't havwe the assets

Anyway I am trying to get scen 1 improved then I will see where that takes me

It is good to hear you're still tinkering, Andy. I just got to 1944 so I am hoping that the ending of my current game coincides with your finished product!

I am not alone in appreciation of your efforts.

Thank You!

I am not convinced that anything I can do will make Scen 1 a challenge for players the Ai simply does not have enough assets especially light escort vessels but will keep plugging away

I've been playing as Japan and I always feel short of them. Maybe your efforts would be better used on another scenario?

Another thing on MY wish list (have no idea about the degree of difficulty) - a 1 May 1942 scenario (give or take). It would prevent the issues Sir Robin does for play balance. We would want it to be a bit before Coral Sea to give the IJN the ability to concentrate forces for the seizure of Port Moresby, OR Suva OR concentration of force at Midway or Australia or back to the IO.
Just a thought.

Probably but the more improvments I make to Scen 1 to make the AI as efficient as possible will mean when I add the extra toys the foundation is solid

Too many times I have fixed stuff without going back to the root and that's what I am doing now

I believe a player created a starting May scenario. Not sure where to find it but a forum search would likely help.

Woooooaaaaahhhh

Wow I guess the AI players are alive and well [:D]

I need to manage expectations I am looking at the scripts I dont have coding support for this mini project.

I will do my level best to clean it up and fix what I can but some of the wish list above is out of my ability to fix I am looking at the scripts which are about 50% of the AI and yes its easier because of the changes Michael has made to understand whats going on but I am not a miracle worker !!!!

Lets see how we get on fixing one script for scen 1 and doing that full review then we shall see what we can do about some of the other stuff.
