GD 1938 Experimental version, game
Hi Guys (and who knows gals?)
Bombur and I are looking for a few people who are willing to try out an experimental build of the GD 1938 game. There is at least 1 new mechanism we wish to test, and New OOBs for all the minors. Also Bombur has worked on making the units less deadly, lowering their kill%.
So who is up for a game, that may or may not go to the end?
EDIT:
Seems like so far we have:
Germany/Italy: RufusTfirefly
Japan : LJBurstyn
USSR : Cpdeyoung
France/UK: Ernieschwitz
US/China: Bombur

Count me in, please. It is a great scenario and I am curious to see what you have changed.

With RufusTfirefly yet to declare....
So it the evil Germans that are still looking for someone to lead them to honor and glory. I will try.
What about game settings (shared recon, share units ...)?

I am satisfied with any combination of those...
So Shared Recon, Unit Sharing, Alternative Spanish Civil War Result and Domestic Research Bonus are all at your leasure, unless someone else has other ideas?

Want someone to play Italy? I would like to try. Still a newbie, but experience is going up with the games I am playing now.

baloo7777 and falco: If I was to decide I´d say you both missed the cutoff, but I am willing to let the players that are playing the nations you are wanting to decide if they want to relinquish them or not.

If baloo777 wants to play Italy I will take only Germany.
Another option would be to start a second test game and have baloo777 and falco as players being fixed already. A econd test game might show whether results of first game are reliable. I would participate in a second game.

Lets say we have a 2nd experimental game too.
Of course the nation choices should be different than from the first, so that we can all get a feel for the new features and OOBs. Who would you want to play. I will participate, not sure about Bombur, but I will do my best.

While playing Axis in first game it would be interesting to play France/ GB in the second one.
Have read your notes about the changes now. The changes might cause slower advances and longer fights til a country is defeated. This way the whole game might last longer. That would be a great plus I think. So far I have not seen a game where some late war techs could be developed as games normally ended far earlier than historically. Some games even ended before USA could play any important role. The player of USA is often forces to wait quite long and cannt do anything else than prepare for war entry. But when he gets the option to DoW often cards are already played and it is only a question of another few turns til the leading nation has won.
However it is harder for Germany now to grow in strength quick enough before the western nations and/ or SU are able to stop any further advance of Axis and start powerful counterattacks. It will be interesting to see whether Axis might still be able to take as many minors as in previous versions.
Edit:
First turn posted. Larry (Japan) is next.

I have no problem playing in game 2. I have not been a great attacker and would rather take a nation like France or Italy, to allow for the more experienced players to take the nations that can impact the play most.

I would be happy to join either or both of these game if there is a slot available.
Are we like late Rome, infatuated with past glories, ruled by a complacent, greedy elite, and hopelessly powerless to respond to changing conditions?

Ok for the 2nd game I got the following noted:
Players interested: Ernieschwitz, Bombur, RufusTFirefly, Baloo7777, falco, Twotribes, cpdeyoung, Ironduke.
That makes 8 players, so one for each nation. (If Bombur should not play US/China, he gets France, hence I have slotted him there).
Germany: Ironduke
Italy : Ernieschwitz
Japan : cpdeyoung
Soviet Union: Twotribes
France : Bombur
Britain : RufusTFirefly
United States: Baloo7777
China : falco
