Played Sturgeon Catch

Post by demyansk »

I am a noob on the game and have had this game since the beginning. I played the above named scenario and got crushed 9-0 playing as the Germans. I am no Manstein, for sure. Anyone have a win under there belt on this one?

I played as Soviets vs German AI. Soviets won with a 12:1 ratio. German AI, when unfrozen at Turn 4, attacked an took one of the two border hexes of Sevasapol but never attacked the City. Germans did drive towards Rostov. Once I put a top echelon in the front at Rostov, there was no more German progress. German AI was too passive and had no great push.

Sturgeon Catch is only really good for a learning scenario. I find as the germans it is way way harder to capture rostov than in the full 42 or op blue scenario due to the limited maneuvering space. I have won it though. Best to play as the german as the ai struggles to atack very heavily fortified/defended positions. If your up for it the op blue operation encompasses the same operation and is much better in my opinion.
