To me, it is what the person reading it thinks about the past history of Berlin and Germany and how it affects the future (for Germany, Berlin and the world). I get the sense he feels we should never forget the past (or we will be doomed to repeat it).

And the blurriest of issues remains why they allowed Hitler to do what he did.

I know this one: becouse Hitler had top-notch security personnel that stopped over 40 assassination attempts
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
