The x-ray is her siren song. My ship cannot resist her long. Nearer to my deadly goal. Until the black hole. Gains control...

For those lovers of old music go to CKUA.com right now for a 2 hour special as part of their annual fundraising drive. You won't be disappointed.

I took TOMLABEL's advice and made the trip to the Battleship North Carolina while I had time.

Awesome buddy!!! You're right about the layout not being changed much since WW2. Hope you took some great pics!!

I'm sure the old girl had a more antiquitish (sp?) aroma to it below decks than the Iowa due to the Iowa being modernized several times and being crewed up until the 90's. The Bama is the same way.

Is she still in the MS32(artistic license and all...) paint scheme?

It was worth the drive - you can go inside the turrets, magazines, CIC, engine rooms, etc - very educational!

Very cool! I wasn't sure if you can go inside the Iowa Class BB's turrets at this point. I know the last time I went to see BB64 in Norfolk, you could only walk around the main deck....well some of it anyway.

Glad you got to go buddy!!![:)]

Great!

Now you need the 3 hour trip from Charlotte to Charleston to see CV-10

Closing shipyard/port scene of ENT docking from the MIDWAY movie was filmed there I believe.
