Historical Flag mod for Battle Academy

The non-Steam and Steam versions of my Historical Flag mod for Battle Academy have been uploaded to my box account and are ready for downloading.

The mod changes nine dds files, three each for the Germans, Italians, and Americans.

The Germans are now using the Parteiflag, and the Italians and Americans are using flags they actually used during WW II rather than the post-war flags that appear in the game.

The modern Italian flag is a simple tricolor. During WW II it sported the coat of arms of the House of Savoy.

The modern American flag has 50 stars on its blue field arranged in a checkerboard pattern. During WW II the Americans used a 48 star flag with the stars arranged in straight rows and columns. Because the patterns are different you can tell which is which without bothering to count the stars.

The mod can be downloaded here:

My Box account sometimes runs out of bandwidth towards the end of the month. If that ever happens, download from Dropbox or just wait until the next month.

Non-Steam version:

This mod uses a manual installation. After you unzip the mod to a safe place, copy and paste the mod's Slitherine folder to wherever you keep your Slitherine installation. The folders in the mod are set up in such a way that everything should fall into the right place.

It's always a good idea to make copies of what you are about to overwrite in case you hate the mod.

Steam version:

This is a manual installation Steam mod that is not part of Steam Workshop. What that means is that if you ever verify the integrity of your installation, Steam will overwrite the mod with the original files. So always be prepared to reinstall the mod after you do this (which you should probably do from time to time anyway).

After you unzip the mod to a safe place, copy and paste the mod's Steam folder to wherever you keep your Steam installation. The folders in the mod are set up in such a way that everything should fall into the right place.

RE: Historical Flag mod for Battle Academy

I've taken another look at the original Battle Academy recently and have decided I don't like the size and positioning of the central roundels in the German flags.

So I've repainted the three German flags and renamed the mod (it's now Battle Academy Historical Flag Mod).

The links in my first post in the thread will still take you to the latest version (now 1.1).

The repaint preserves the comic book art style but is slightly less cartoonish and more historically correct.

These flags won't work in Battle Academy 2 but aren't really needed so I have no plans for making a BA2 version of the mod.

I've uploaded the Steam and non-Steam versions of this mod to Dropbox as a back-up.

The links have been added to the first post in this thread.

There is now a sister-mod to this one for Battle Academy 2 that uses some of its flags in the editor.
