Land lubber who sent it said 'look at how short the take-off run is'.

And CIC is JUST a bit different than it was in the old days. I was on older ships and remember learning how to write backwards with grease pencils.

That's nothing, I was on a CV (Constellation) and took the COD plane (a S-2 converted into cargo) off the ship WITHOUT the cat and was not only airborne quickly but was up to the bridge level as we passed the island structure. And we didn't even start from the ass end of the flight-deck, but much further up. I was able to wave at my fellow watch standers. Deck runs are not done very much anymore, they are almost always with a catapult.
