Southeast Asia HQ:

Now when Rangoon and Megwe are in allied hands his abilities to hold there very limited.

Paratroopers -> AA unit

That sounded like a bad start even before the division showed up! [:D]

AA unit was in "move" stance it shoot down only 2 his transport planes. Very poor result for such big AA unit.

Truk finally fall to marines !!! However Japanese defenders are still holding :(

But aren't they cut off from supply now and easily destroyed from this point? Anyway, congratulations on a long and difficult battle there!

You could march a unit SE of Toungoo to that elbow in the good road, then through one hex of Jungle Rough to Taung Gyi. I doubt he has much there except a BF and aircraft. Then it's a march down the rail line to Pisanluoke to cut off his main supply route. Better still if you can do it with paratroops.

My highly professional assessment is: he is in a lot of trouble [:)]

Knowing from my own flawed experience, once the oil is cut off and the tempo of fighting continues to increase in 44, stockpiles count for little.

Continue to engage him aggressively everywhere and he will collapse.

cheers

11th Feb 1944 - Havoc day

PB Hozugawa Maru sunk by SS Haddock near Iwaki.
SS Scamp sunk by I-181 near Manus :(
TK Rikko Maru probably sunk by SS Scorpion, however my sub got hammered by escort and now is heading back.
KV Chilliwack sunk by RO-105, enemy sub paid high price for this success and was forced to surface and sunk by PG Hindustan KV Vancouver.

Central Pacific HQ:

3 ACM and 1 CMc sunk during night by 5th Fleet screening ships near Guam.

Well morning bring some surprise, it seems Martin finally decided to become more aggressive in air.
35 N1K1-J swept Biak at 41k altitude. They meet 20 P-38J, 23 P-40N1, 12 P-51A, 27 F4U-1A and 7 F6F-3 and suffer.
11 Gorges lost for 4 Corsair and 1 Mustang.

And this was just beginning of interesting day ...

Today 5th Fleet has started raiding Japanese shiping around Marianes. Main goal is to provoke carrier clash before invasion. However I am not sure if Martin will be ready for next one.

13th -18th Feb 1944

A few quiet days again. 5th Fleet is still moving out from Kavieng.

17th Feb - unescorted xAKL Carroo sunk by I-184 near Suva.
18th Feb - SS KXVI heavily damaged near Amami Oshima by destroyer Hagikaze. Heading back to base now with ~50% chance for success.

Southwest Pacific HQ:

5th USAAF fighters from Balikapan swept Tarakan at 16th. In one single air engagement 75 P-47 and 18 F6F meet 26 J2M2, 12 N1K1 and 108 N1K1-J. Japan lost 11 N1K1-J, 8 J2M2 for just 2 F6F-3, really nice result especially that all P-47 came back safe to base. However intel reports shows that Martin has reinforced his fighters in that particular base to over 150 planes.

20th - 24th Feb 1944

20th Feb - SC Ch-40 sunk by SS Burrfish near Busuanga.
21st Feb - SC Ch-30 sunk by SS Bowfin near San Jose.
23rd Feb - SS Burrfish sunk by 3 IJN destroyers on way to base near Taytay.
23rd Feb - I-8 damaged by convoy escort near San Luis Obispo.

22nd Feb:
5th USAAF fighters swept Tarakan. Firstly 71 Hellcats supported by 36 Corsairs engaged 87 Gorges, 7 Oscars and 49 Franks. Next 75 P-38J of 7th USAAF swept Babeldaob. In both cases our pilots failed to achieve good results. Cost of this actions is to much high, 28 Lightnings and 17 Hellcats for 19 Oscars, 13 Gorges and 3 Franks.
P-47 is still only planes able to cut thru his CAP :(

23rd Feb:
5th USAAF attacked Tarakan again. This time over 250 B-24 escorted by 200 fighters closed Japanese airfield.
My fighters and bombers managed to destroy 55 Gorges, 29 Franks and 16 A6M5d-S for cost of 15 B-24, 23 Kittyhawks, 9 Spitfires and 19 P-38. It costly victory, but I can afford it now, and closing this airfield was required for next landing of 6 US Army.

Fatigue permitting I think its time to launch a shock attack at Pegu. Next attack should bring the fort to a very manageable level 2 and shock attack would probably put you at at least 6 to 1 odds. Best to smash whatever is left of the Japanese here before they fall back to the jungle.

I like the idea of a shock attack provided ample engineers will be able to participate in the attack.
