Pirate Construction Ships

I've noticed that no matter how many space ports I have spread out, if I order a Construction ship to build something, it will ALWAYS head back to my original spaceport first.

This seems silly.

Any ideas why it does this, or why it would not avail itself of spaceports that may be much closer?

Probably because it has the most supplies.

Personally, the moment I take over my first planet that gas giant junker gets scrapped and all operations move to my shiny new homeworld.
