Come you back, you British soldier
Come you back to Mandalay…..

In Game:
The sound files 1025 to 1034 are the music files played by the game.
They are WAV files that have been renamed with the sfx suffix.
The game engine can handle many sound formats including mp3.

You can back up the original sound files and then rename any mp3 file
To the above names with the sfx suffix and drop them in the SOUNDS folder.
The game will pick them up and play them.

I like the Andrews Sisters Medley.

I have experimented with sound files of this game for years..I replaced a couple with new "Orphan Anne" soundbites and they do NOT play too often..The computer plays the sounds at random.

I also replaced one of the music bytes with a song from Victory At Sea, the old TV series..
Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to clip them to make them fit..

I also use the Victory At Sea sound. I forget where I got it from (Rogue's site I think). It plays just fine as it is.

I dusted off the game and am playing again. Did not like the music, so I stumbled across this thread. I had an old album of WW2 newsreel audio and narration of the events of the war. Ripped the vinyl to MP3 format. Ended up with 4 20MB files and grabbed some music from the site above (thanks!) Replaced all 10 music files by renaming them. I cannot get the music to play in the game. I renamed the files with and without the sfx extension and it does not make a difference. Files are in the sounds folder and play through Win Media Player. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

File name needs to be exact. Check your volume.
There is a size limitation but I can't remember what it is.
I had to take the Andrews Sisters file out. Broke my heart.

The game rotates them at random.

Does anyone know which sound files are used for which specific cases in the game?

I am a little disappointed that I get dive bomber sounds when the PT Boats are attacking TFs. Also, the 50 cal gun sounds a lot like a bomb dropping from above.
