Correct again....

I have always loved this plane, ever since it was featured in Flying Review International and Air Classics in 1965..At the time, nobody made a model of the thing and I had something like 100 1/72nd scale planes..
Dad had a hobby shop when he finally left the army, and Al Roth,(owner of Revell Models) was one of his friends..
Dad suggested I write Mr Roth a letter...suggested I send him a list of planes I would like to see made..

Well, I did send the list..I requested the Buffalo, the Japanese Oscar, the Polikarpov I-16..Nobody made them at that time and within a month, Mr Roth sent a reply, thanking me for the suggestions..
That October,(IIRC), Revell released all three, in 1/72nd scale, and I got a lesson in how one guy can suggest something to benefit others and get his own reward...
THAT has been an important lesson in my life.

The P-36 (and the Buffalo) are my favourites, too. I collect diecast models, the Buffalo comes in several versions and scales but the P-36 I have only
found in 1/100 scale and one in 1/48. The 1/48 is very nice but the company (Carousel) went defunct. However, I was able to acquire three versions of it -
one below:

I've always loved 1/48 scale a/c & 1/35 tanks/troops. I've always thought them the best scaling for seeing the finer details but still small enough to display on shelves w/o taking over everything. I tried a few Monogram dioramas in my day, if you remember those sheets that came in the model kits

Cool story. Those kits were a bit of a departure for Revell. Most of their line up were better known aircraft (to Americans) up to that point. Those three kits still get re-released from time to time.

My father's business partner did some box covers for Revell airliner kits back in the early 60s. My father did the photographic work on the paintings. He also did some work for Revell in the early 50s and got paid in model railroad kits. He had a bunch of them unbuilt when I was kid.

His work with Revell was long done by the time I came along.

No, the old 1/48 Tamiya kit.

It came with the old yellow wings decals, I think, so I used some spare F4F insignia that I had. My attempt at a Midway bird.

I also used a stick-on canopy frame kit. Don't know if they make those anymore. Explains why they look relatively neat.

Getting the canopy frame right can be tough. Canopy masks are a big business these days.
