I am almost shocked that one of the Chinese defenders is disorganized.

Germany overrun the Polish fleet and capture the destroyer flotilla and destroys the convoy point.

Germany make three automatic attacks in Poland.

Army group Umezu go against their orders and launch a frontal assault into the Mufu mountains. Will China attempt to provide HQ support? Japan fly one 2 strength bomber is support of the attack. Will China intercept it? Will China select the assault table?

The Chinese aircraft does fly. If I abort the bomber I will go for the Assault table, otherwise Blitzkrieg.

Japanese and Chinese fighter pilots fly close to each other and wave angrily. Apparently they had forgot to load real ammunition... [X(][;)]

I didn't try to convey frustration by my smileys. I made a fairly low odds attack that I thought was premature. I was sure that I would roll lousy so I was surprised when I rolled that ten. I also feel that I have a habit of rolling lousy in China. So I tried to go for stunned (positive) surprise with my smileys. Obviously I failed to achieve that. [:(]

Comparing it to the last game is not really fair. In that game I begun with a attack that was a low risk attack and this was a high risk attack. In the last game the attack should have been a minor, or major, success. In this game I hoped for a minor success at best, and expected and feared a complete failure and then I rolled better than I could even dream about. I could hardly believe my eyes when I realized that my forces even stayed organized after the attack.

It's okay I've got my next 8 land combats already thrown (top two rows) and my next 8 naval searches (bottom two) [:D]

Really tempted to put the Polish division in Warsaw and fly the aircraft there too. Sadly I do not have the brass cajones to do it, and feel I have to adopt a far more cautious approach instead - that means I cannot afford the Combined move I would need to use to achieve this [&:]

Germany overrun and captured the destroyer flotilla and when ships gets captured by overrunning they get damaged.

When you capture a naval unit by rolling a "1" during an overrun, the captured unit is placed in the Repair Pool. This was new in the 7m rules from August 2004, and I think it is a good one, as a Major Power would have some work to do before they could fight with a captured ship, I think, from partial damage from attempted scuttling, matching the ammunition the ship would need, putting a crew on it, etc.

The French and Royal Navies do a lot of navally things. The BEF takes to the North Sea and an Indian Corps heads for Egypt and environs.

With the Germans poised on the Dutch border I cannot run the risk of using up bombers on Strategic bombing missions with either the RAF or the Armee de l'air.

However, I decide that a ground strike may be appropriate to try and upset German offensive plans.

The first attack is against troops massing on the German-Danish border and is carried out by Bomber Command. I assume the AA unit would be called into action.

The German AA reduces the bomb-load by 1.

The result for the CW could have been better, but at least one unit was disorganised. As it turned out the AA fire made no difference either way.

The next attack is by the French against a fighter and a good quality infantry unit.

The results are desperate however

The Soviets invoke one of the secret protocols of the Nazi-Soviet Pact and this makes the US Congress sit up and take notice.

There is nothing to say that the CW pilots have grown by 2 - is this normal?

Meanwhile in China I am in all sorts of trouble once again. I try and retreat, but its a total mess. If the weather holds I could end up losing 5 or more units on the first turn. Let's hope the weather god was born in Peking....

Nimitz is ordered to Honolulu to take up a new command. Husband E Kimmel is upset that he has been overlooked for the job. "I bet I would have made a better CinC of the Pacific Fleet - that Nimitz guy is useless!".....
