Steve Strange, one of the New Romantic pioneers and member of Visage, died this week. Here is an orchestral version of their best known track - Fade to Grey - together with the original version. I love the strings around 4:40 in the orchestral version, while the original - well what can you say about an absolute masterpiece? [&o][&o]

Jean Sibelius was born in Finland 150 years ago this year. Here is the wonderful Finlandia. Great for playing in the background while wargaming, especially games involving Scandinavia or Russia/ Soviet Union [:)].

6th Symphony - 5th Movement. The whole symphony is beautiful, this movement is gorgeous, the section from 4:00 onwards is just musical ecstasy [&o]

Finished watching the BBC's Casual Vacancy last night. Some of the music from it was quite interesting so looked it up on itunes. Apparently the composer is someone called Solomon Grey and itunes had an album with selected music from the series.

It's well worth a listen to - especially the incredibly sad "The Drowning" and the "End Theme" - unfortunately neither of which are available on you tube. So instead here is Firechild.

I cannot recall if I have promoted this one before. If I haven't then I apologise for being remiss, if I have, then I don't care [;)]

From 1984, this track is an absolute classic - so much going on: great vocals, great string sound, high pitched piano and goodness knows what else - BRILLIANT!!:
