IJN troop ship losses

Below is a link to a list of Japanese troop ships sunk by US submarines in WWII. I counted the dead - 87,000 soldiers dead!

I didn't know the Japanese were so inept at protecting their troop ships in WWII.

Does anyone know how many Japanese troops ships were sunk by US aircraft/surface ships? I guess there must be some such sinking during Philippines campaign in years 1944-45.

BTW, the list says the USN did not lose a single troop ship to Japanese submarines. Is this correct?
