Exclusive Interview With The French Navy On The Barracuda SSN Program
Image
Between 2017 and 2027, Barracuda-type nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSN) will replace the Marine Nationale (French Navy's) current-generation Rubis/Améthyste-class SSNs. Navy Recognition recently had the unique opportunity to ask the French Navy's Barracuda program manager & officer a few questions on the next generation submarine of the French Navy.

I look forward to France's great success in fielding these new subs. Vive La France!
Though surrounded by a great number of enemies
View them as a single foe
And so fight on!

Looks to be the French answer to VIRGINIA and Astute. Similar capabilities from what is stated or implied.

Yeah but once again in a shrinked size.
That's why one of my questions focused on noise level compared to the Rubis class.
Rubis class is rumored to be on the noisy side because of their small size. When you go too small, you can't make the platform quiet no more.

Great work, NavyRec! I hate to say it, but I hadn't even heard of this sub yet!
