Peanuts! Get your Peanuts here! Zig(A) vs Castor Troy(J) no CT

Post by Zigurat666 »

Okay so I,ve taken the challenge as the allies for the third time and first time playing a DBB scenario.House rules are basically the same as any other game.I feel honoured to have the priviledge of playing Castor. As an average player I have been blessed with having PBEM games with what I like to refer to as senior players. Perhaps its because I might not be that bad or perhaps its hard to find a JFB that is willing to put up with 3-4 years of game time, time will tell. Anyways on with the show.I would like to make a small request to any replies that may be submitted. It has always been my wargaming philosophy to live by the sword and die by the sword. I would like to keep the "advice" to a minimum. I have always felt that posting advice to players gives an unfair advantage as there may be something suggested that the player never considered and could possibly change the outcome of the game. Making decisions for ourselves is what makes us grow as competitors.

So...

Dec 7th 1941,Japanese scoundrels decide to do an all out attack on the Philipines, totally ignoring PH. To me this was short term gain for long term pain. Yes, my opponent wreaked havoc on the asiatic submarine fleet but in 41-42 subs are not the priority anyways with the bad torps and what not.

China
We have a ceasefire in China untiol Feb of 42. I am taking this time to withdraw troops from deep inside enemy territory to a defensive line.Hopefully I can get some supplies for china and make a go of it.Personal experience playing allies will definatly be a factor here.

CentPac

Since we remained untouched at Pearl and have confirmed that KB is doing the "World Tour" of the DEI I took it upon myself to be a little aggressive with the American CV fleet (see below). The first(and hopefully the last) attempt by CT to amalgamate Wake into the greater co-prosperity sphere failed miserably as the American fleet on "routine" mission intercepted the invasion force. This small victory has escalated the priority for holding Wake as a strategic body since we know KB is far away

North Pacific
Improving defenses of Dutch Harbour and Umnak Island. Have dispatched a small naval contingent of three heavy cruisers and some DD's in case the Japanese get uppity up there without any CVE support.

Malaya/Burma

My opponent is doing the "Mersing" manouver. Was kind of expected. My strat here was to evacuate all I can from the peninsula and move to India. I always study my opponents before playing and find that Castor is a real India kind of guy.In preperation for this I am moving all evacuated forces to India (not Burma),transferred 4 air groups of 4E from the states to the UK and am in the process of saving PP's to move a few divisions from the states to India.

DEI
My opponent is taking only strategic bases at this point, avoiding a general sweep of the area. Interesting strat with KB,it is roaming around trying to reduce what I presume is allied air in the area.I,m hoping one of my dutch subs will get enough courage to attack as they have been in the same hex a few times.
Force "Z" ran south and was to help in the delay of the DEI takeover bid.

Good start on his merchant shipping!! [&o][&o]

I sometimes try to sneak "Big Bad Boise" to a Patrol Zone due north of Truk to Tokyo. With her endurance, she can patrol for a long time and with his losses, he will need to divert more shipping to Truk.

Outside of my CVs, my large, fast American AOs get priority on escorts.

Well my raiding on my opponents merchant shipping seems to be annoying him. Got this email today "considering that dice could roll for both sides I wonder what is more impressing, the constant non existing adjusted av I had so far or the fact that in a normal campaing you should have either lost force Z or your carriers by now. But bold for sure!"
Anyhow, dont want to be "too" greedy so pulling the carriers back before KB gets agitated.
