North Pacific Shootout

Post by con »

I have been playing this mission and I am a bit stumped on the P3 C Orion part of the mission
I have it on a Maritime Surveilance Loadout
Is it meant to pass over or near (how close) to the Soviet Surface task force and then return to base or does it need to go to all three Reference points?
Is it even needed? ie Do you just need to destroy all the soviet air assets?

Thanks

The P3 has really good sensor sweet… If you go into the database you can check it out… if you get within missile Range they will shoot you down… Use it to keep track of the Soviet surface section... From a safe distance...

Looking at the scenario in the editor mode there does not seem to be ay scoring or event triggers associated with the P-3 (aside from adding points to the Soviet points tally if it's shot down). I believe it's more there for atmosphere, and the "victory condition" is based more around you shooting down as many Foxhounds and Flankers while preserving as much of your own air assets.

That said, it didn't stop me from trying to have the P-3 continue with its mission and attaching some extra Tomcats loaded with 4 AIM-54s.

Thanks for the reply

It helps me out since I was keeping a group of F14s back to help escort the P3 when all I really wanted to do was surge and whack the Foxhounds and Flankers
