TF air cover

Post by Tokyo Boy »

Hello dear gods of war, princes of doom, masters of the one hundred ways to kill allies.

[&o] [&o] [&o]

I would like to know how to set an efficient air cover for my BB TF at guadalcanal.

I have no CV but I ll use my fleet in the range of land based fighters
How to use these fighters to counter air threats ?
Sweep cannot be use on sea hex and escort is only for covering others aircrafts right?
so CAP LR ?

What is the best way ?
tks in advance

Yes, LRCAP is the correct method of providing air cover over TFs out of range of normal CAP (3 hexes).

Don't forget to set the BB task force as target for your LRCAP groups. You should also rotate squadrons each turn as fatigue piles up fast when LRCAPing. It's better to have 1 squadron stand down a turn and 1 fly then to have both fly if your are going to be in range of enemy air for more than a single turn.

If your airbase is "close" to your BB task force, then ordinary CAP I have found works quite well with the appropriate range setting. Much lighter on fatigue.
