it takes freight to do everything to restore your units. those depots will run out eventually if there is no rail cap to replenish them.
What do your rails look like?
AWG says he has hard time supplying, but im not sure if its because I have plastered every rail yard in Italy.

I landed 3 invasions for '44. I expected a huge fight in the North and hoped for an early capture of Marseilles in the south. What I got was a huge fight. My invasion prep of the area was minimal.

In hindsight, atrocious or criminal. I was able to bomb effectively but didn't plan enough nor enough time. The result was unsurprisingly Pelton's Wall. The last invasion was to take the pressure off the first in the North. Same errors... not enough focus by the air forces.

I'm faced now with the hard choices of staying put, or trying one more time. Game weather suggests the Soviets will be in Berlin before I get to Paris but I'm going to continue to try. I've had to swap out the original invasion force with an entirely new army. Slow going when supporting two invasion beaches and annoying counter-attacks. If the weather doesn't improve I'm going to have to sit for some time awaiting good weather.

Anyone who doesn't take invasion planning seriously will lose. Either side.

I'm not up on the literature for the normandy campaign. But have Zetterling's comments about allied air power being a nuisance rather than absolutely destructive been disproved or supported? I've always been fascinated by the acceptance of war propaganda as popular fact. It's very difficult to determine actual effects from claimed effects when both sides like the myth better than reality to explain their success (or failure)

A good read is Steel Inferno

I SS Panzer Corp in Normandy.

It seemed that if you were a German you wanted to stay withen a few miles of the front lines. There was not much for allies planes over head. Guess they did not want friendly fire, but once you got 10+ miles from the front you better not move during day light hours unless it was raining.

I just pulled the book of the shelf yesterday and started flipping through it again.

now on my reading list. Thanks!

It's counter-intuitive to not bring over as many troops as possible. I think the game does an excellent job punishing those that rush everyone to France without adequate transport and supply. It's even harder to remember that you need to leave room for units to retreat otherwise they'll rout. Knowing this from WitE doesn't mean I remember to apply it in WitW to my detriment. It's the balance between lots of troops to hold a hex, vs a bigger target that can't run.

Chuikov's Stalingrad tactics. Too bad interdiction in hexes next to friendly unit doesn't have potential for friendly fire. Or at least have a reduction in effect on enemies.

Damn, December 44 and the Allies are not even close to Germany.

Very good game, Pelton.

I'm still trying to break out somewhere. But the weather is definitely not participating in my plans.

Nothing has happened basicly.

The weather has been horrible so not much can be done. I do feel bad for Belphegor because mother nature seems to truly hate him.

Still no ground support from aircraft. Weather is only cold, so it's apparently a deliberate decision, but I don't understand the reasoning.

Can you show a map of the interdiction values around those beachheads? If they're not providing ground support, is he at least supplying heavy interdiction?
