Which Patch?

Post by sIg3b »

I am going to order the boxed game. Do I then need to install a patch? Which one/how many? Where?
Thanks.

You will need one patch only, which can be launched from the game's main menu. It will update the game to 2.02.

Thank you!

Are there any bugs or undocumented features I should know about?

If and when you play night scenarios, you should be aware of this:
ORIGINAL: berto

This is a bug, maybe not so major, depending on how you look at it. At least there are ways to work around the problem.

Basically, it's this:

[*]When you load an older (version 11 or before) night scenario, and during your initial playing session, the GFV in the .scn file (last number, fourth line) applies.
[*]All save files are stamped version 12, the data file version as of 2.02.
[*]In all subsequent play sessions, after a reload, the new default 6-hex GFV comes into play.

So, GVF varies between the first play session vs. all post-save/reload following (unless, like with most EF night scenarios, the initial GFV is explicitly 6).

Another confirmation of: There Will Be Bugs.

<sigh> [:(]

Not a disastrously bad bug, but a bug all the same.

Players of JTCS 2.02 night scenarios have several options:

[*]On first loading a night scenario, immediately save it, exit, then reload. GFV of 6 will apply throughout the scenario.
[*]Before loading a legacy (version <= 11) night scenario, edit the .scn file, changing the last number, fourth line, to 6. GFV of 6 will apply throughout the scenario.
[*]Play a night scenario from beginning to end, without saving, exiting, then reloading. In this case, the designer-specified GFV, as set in the .scn file, will apply throughout the scenario.
[*]Just resign yourself to the bug, accept that at some point in your play through, when you reload from save, GFV will likely change, to 6.
Probably best if you try the first, highlighted option.

Also, be aware that there are issues with DCGs (Dynamic Campaign Games).

Other than those two, there seem to be no other significant issues with the latest 2.02 release.
