[ART] All The World's Fighting Ships 1922-1946

Post by GaryChildress »

This is going to be an ambitious thread. In it I will be posting ship art for all the world's navies in WW2. I will primarily be using Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1922-1946 for reference as well as any web sources needed. All ship art will be official WitP scale meaning Length Overall x .165 + 45 (pixels). [NOTE: Except for submarines I'm not sure what the scale is for WitP as it appears to be different than other ships.]

The purpose of this thread is to provide modders with a complete catalog of WitP compatible ship art for virtually every possible scenario. Each navy will include both real life ships as well as various never were ships which were projected but never built or never completed. The art should blend in relatively seamlessly with existing WitP/AE art, therefore I will NOT be doing the RL Japanese, US or Commonwealth fleets (at least not what is already present in the game). Rather this thread will contain pretty much all other ships from just about every other navy.

I will use the OP to point to different posts within this thread where I have posted ship art files. By referring to the links in the OP it should be easy to find the files you want.

I am allowed a maximum of one (1) Megabyte per file attachment per post. Fortunately 1 MB should be enough to post an entire navy within a single zip file. If anything larger is required it may get posted in two or more parts.

[NOTE: Most ships will be dramatically altered and touched up cut and paste jobs of original WITP/AE art, therefore a note of gratitude is necessary to JWE, Big B and TOMLABEL who put together the original AE art.]

Germany - Kriegsmarine (part I): See post #6 below for file attachment fb.asp?m=3786122

Italy - Regia Marina (Part II): see post #15 below for file attachment fb.asp?m=3788260

Below is a running preview of what I have files for so far.

You're welcome Herrbear. Almost finished with the Germans also. I already had the capital ships done from the mod I was working on. Had to redo most of the cruisers, though, because the ones I had for my mod were mostly completely fictitious. My intent for this thread is to feature only RL ships and some of the never were types that made it through design but didn't make it to commission.

Nice work. Are you planning on doing the minor navies? I'm particularly thinking of the South American navies, especially Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.
