Fair do's.

There must be others out there that are capable of recognising ABBA's greatness??

Anyone else?

Back in the day, myself and my circle of friends and associates scorned ABBA. As time went along I would hear some of their music and I actually have come to like some of their songs. For me, there are groups and individual artists that I didn't care for in the past but after listening to some of their songs for awhile I actually start to enjoy them...it is like cave man basic learning and psychology! I have had that experience in the opposite. An artist(Alice Cooper) who I thought was fantastic when a teenager. When I listen to him now(except for a few really good songs) I realize how bad an artist he was. The lyrics of his songs are what an 8 year old could written. I'll say he had one song that was morally conscientious when he sang about people not caring for there children. Some say he was talking about abortions.

Yeah, I've always gone for indie, new wave and punk stuff, but Abba are great. And the Beatles, too!

Apparently not...

Oh well never mind - here is the my second fave ABBA song:

Hold your horses, Warspite, I've been out all day!

In best 'Top of the Pops' tradition, in descending order:

10 Under Attack
09 Hey, Hey Helen (as covered by the band Lush)
08 Chiquitita
07 S.O.S.
06 Head Over Heals
05 Ring Ring
04 Waterloo
03 Voulez Vous
02 Fernando
01 The Winner Takes It All

But so many great songs to choose from.

Imo, Alice Coopers main contribution to music is his influence on the shock-rock scene. But he does have some good songs, although most of them makes the most sense when you are still in school [;)]

My favorite though has to be Might as well be on Mars

Apart from that, what I was listening to before I read that comment was Art Garfunkel and his beautiful Bright Eyes.

I went an looked back at his list of songs. I didn't realize he made so many albums. And I was too fast with my judgment of Alice. I went to one of his concerts. He is a great showman. Also the lyrics his song "My God" shows he did have depth in some song selections.Heres an example.

If I should find myself in blackest night
And fear is stabbin' me all over
A tiny prayer cracks the dark with light
And I here sounds behind my wall
Inside, a still small voice it calls and calls
Then like a thunder bolt it falls and falls

My God

When life becomes more real than children's games
Or we've become too old to play them
We'll grow old gracefully, we'll hide our shame
But there's that voice behind the wall
And like my conscience it is still and small
Each word is mercy, protects us all

My God

Et in lux perpetuo
Deu domine
Et in pax aeternus
Deu domine

I was a boy, when tempted fell sometimes
And fell so low, no one could see me
Save for the eyes of Him that sees my crime
When sheep like me have drifted, lost
All frightened children who are tempest, tossed
Sown flies His wrath like an albatross

My God

Great piece of music. [:)]

Unfortunately I have a headache today so I prefer to listen to Richard Clayderman instead. I've recommended Ballade Pour Adeline here before but inspired by Warspite1 I do recommend it once again.

Right then - a bit of Russian music is called for.

Does anyone know what instrument would make the desperate, melancholy, sound that kicks in after about 45 seconds. It really is quite beautiful.

Shame about the rubbish video [8|]
