Italian Rome garrison defects to WA?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Italian Rome garrison defects to WA?

Post by Carterjon »

In the Salerno to Rome scenario the Italian garrison and Rome defects and has to be disarmed by the Germans near the city. While not especially difficult it does delay a couple of divisions getting to the invasion site, and I believe was quite historical. Can this happen in the Battleground Italy or Campaign scenarios? I've never seen it...all the mainland Italians have gone home immediately.

No, this does not happen in the campaign games. The only switching that can happen is in Sardinia and Corsica.
