Nov/Dec 1943. Start of Turn. Trade.

The onset of late fall and early winter brings the good possibility of Archangel becoming iced in. So the US reduces the number of build points it's sending to the USSR from 3 to 1 (i.e., 1 BP to Murmansk).

The non-mandatory trade agreements:

1. US to USSR - 1 BP.

2. Free France to CW - 1 oil.

3. Germany to Italy - 1 oil and 4 non-oil.

4. Vichy France to Italy - 1 non-oil.

Nov/Dec 1943. Start of Turn. Place Units - USSR.

The Soviets are able to place two 6-4 infantry corps and a 1-5 infantry division in Baku. This definitely should frustrate the German player who was so oh ... so ... close last turn to capturing Baku.

Nov/Dec 1943. Start of Turn. Initiative.

The axis win the first roll, the allies elect NOT to re-roll and the axis choose to go first.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. Weather.

A fantastic weather roll for Nov/Dec. That is, a fantastic roll if your plans/objectives need land combat, which the German plans/objectives do.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. German Land Option with O-Chit.

The Germans play an o-chit with Guderian. His orders are to immediately move north, take command of the German forces opposing the allied buildup in/near Brest and drive those forces back into the sea. Hermann Goering has pledge the full support of the Luftwaffe to Guderain and his newly assigned mission.

In support of German combat operations in France, Italy takes a land option. In Asia, Japan takes a combined.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. France. Luftwaffe Ground Strikes.

Guderian not only plans two land combats against the allied forces in the Brest beachhead, but bodily plans a third to reduce the allied position in the Brodeaux sector. Guderian takes Goering up on his offer for Luftwaffe support and orders three grounds strikes on the three target land combat hexes.

The first airstike, which is on a hex in the Brest bridgehead, is unsuccessfully opposed by RAF fighters which are quickly shot down by accompanying Luftwaffe fighters. The ground strike manages to disorganized 1 of 2 allied ground units.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. Ground Strike. St. Malo.

The second ground strike is also unsuccessfully opposed by more RAF fighters, which are also shot down. Like the first, this ground strike disorganizes 1 of 2 defending allies units.

The third attempted ground strike is a win for the RAF, who manage to down the Luftwaffe bombers before they can reach their target.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. France[54,24]. Land Combat. Defensive Ground Support.

The US and CW throw 8 factors of defensive ground support to the first land combat launched by the Germans this impulse.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. Occupied France[54,24]. Land Combat.

The Germans roll well. They roll a 7, modified to a 9. Even with 8 factors of defensive ground support, the Germans manage to destroy 1 of the 2 defending units, shatter the second, capture the hex and stay organized.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. St-Malo. Land Combat. (Defensive) Ground Support.

The US and CW are able to add 4 combat factors to the defense of St-Malo. Unlike the last combat, they hope that this one is more favorable.

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. Bordeaux, France. Land Combat. Ground Support.

Both sides go all out in trying to provide ground support to the land combat against Bordeaux. The net result after several rounds of air to air is 3 downed Luftwaffe fighter units, no cleared Luftwaffe bombers and 6 cleared allied bomber units providing 5 factors in defensive ground support. All this for 5 factors ...

Nov/Dec 1943. Axis #1. Bordeaux, France. Land Combat.

Those 5 factors of defensive air support make the difference! The attacking Germans get a bloody nose! Eisenhower has some fight in him. Well, at least his HQ unit does.
