How to avoid lots of ground kills?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

How to avoid lots of ground kills?

Post by tiger111 »

Depending on who goes first in a scenario you can alter the Auto Air directives. But if you go second you have to use the scenario designers settings,

I think that before the game starts proper the Human player should be allowed to modify the Air directive and doctrine settings.

Also as Germans how do I reduce huge "on the ground" losses on Turn 1 of the Italy scenarios?

Any thoughts????

There is not that many ways to influence 1st air execution for the Axis player if he is non-phasing player.

Otherwise, don't keep too many air groups in one base. If you do, add some AA to the location (they get bonuses in AF and in the city location). Try not to have them too close to Allied air bases. If some areas are well reconned, try to move your air units to the "darker" hexes.
