A simple patch request

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

A simple patch request

Post by Alchenar »

Relates to the following post
ORIGINAL: Mad Russian

Any of the scenarios that start with NS or WS. Those are Best Played as NATO/Small = NS or Warsaw Pact/Small = WS.

A Time To Dance is the actual first battle of the war. Many have found it helpful,'cough', to play it.
WS Purple One is pretty basic, mostly infantry, and plays quickly as well.
Eyes, Ears and Teeth is a very fluid small unit action that has a large variety of units and still has a small unit count.

Anyone of those three are good places to start. I'm sure others will have their own favorites as well.

Good Hunting.

Any chance of clearing up the scenario folder? Right now it's an unsorted mess of head-to-head and single player version of scenarios. In addition it took me ages to realise that there's two 'psuedo-campaign' threads of missions (Alpha and Beta) that tell a narrative of the war and would be fun to play in order, but the game makes that as difficult as possible because they're all shuffled out of order.

I suspect it wouldn't take long at all to shuffle the H2H scenarios into their own folder and then make sure the game lists the scenarios in a sensible way. It's a small thing, but one that would just get rid of a fiddly source of irritation with the game. Also it would probably help new players out if for example the Tutorial scenario was at the top of the list and next down was the A campaign in escalating order of compexity.

Not right now. We are working on a sort function for the next game in the series. Rather than continuing to work on little details for Red Storm we are incorporating all the remaining changes and features in the next game in the series and pushing the series down the road to incorporate more features and combat theaters.

Good Hunting.

As MR points out we are looking at changing the whole file interface to allow for filtering and sorting in 2.1. If it was a simple change we would have done it already, but it is a recode and rebuild forms type of change.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

If you download the battlefield tour for Google earth, all the original scenarios are listed in chronological order. It hasn't been updated for subsequent scenarios or campaigns though.

Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."
