a sense of scale

Post by obvert »

Ran across these while doing some research on OR shipyards. Thought I'd put them together to get a sense of sizes here. I also know this spot well, as my mom used to live on the far bank to the South of the bridge. Too bad this visit by the USS Constitution didn't happen about 60-70 years later, or by the USS Portland!

Yep,

Scale is interesting. In the Pacific as well.

Check out this site:

Take for instance an overlay of the United Kingdom
with the Northern Mariana Islands.

Now that's an eye opener.

Conquering and occupying the entire HI would just about eclipse the liberation of France and the Occupation of Germany.

Yeah, in 33. The Constitution was on a long tour of the nation's coastal areas and went as far as Seattle, not sure if it made it farther.
