New movie

Post by rustysi »

A co-worker of mine (who knows I'm into this stuff) told me a few days ago that they're making a movie about Bletchley Park and Alan Turing. Anyone hear this as I've heard nor seen more of it?

Yes, it stars the guy who plays Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the BBC series of that name:

It's due out soon, I've heard good things about it.

Caught "Imitation Game" this weekend - was a pretty good flick for us history minded folks. Pretty well done. Can't recall another movie on cracking Enigma either.

There was Enigma (2001), it's also quite decent movie.

My wife and I saw the new version in the movies and we both thought it was great. The only downside is you have to ignore the dates used and the very limited (thank God) battle scenes as they were soooo stupid and unrealistic. They should have just been left out of the movie entirely and they would not have been missed. At least not by me anyway [:)]

Curious if the poorly scripted battle sequences from this movie will offset the otherwise good drama like "Fury" was dismissed and pilloried by so many for a few questionable battle scenes. Seems a bit of a double standard, IMO.

Sure there was. How about this one that vividly captured the faithful capture of Enigma.
