need some rules clarifications

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

need some rules clarifications

Post by davidoux »

Hello ,

I have some questions :

- command unit: does the command radius affect all units or just units under his command chain ?
in my current game, I have an arty which is 8 hexes away from his HQ but very close to an other HQ unit but there is a red entry : "> 8 hexes from HQ"

what are the negative effects of being away from HQ ?

- phase length : my second phase lasts only 2 minutes, phase 3 lasts 33 minutes. how is that defined ? how can I plan that ahead ?

- ennemy unit spotted : can I know which of my unit(s) spotted the ennemy ? can I do that while paused during turn resolution ?

Like in real life they only affect the units under their command.
what are the negative effects of being away from HQ ?

Increased delay time for orders.
Reduced resupply.

Keep your HQ/units ready level as high as possible.
Keep your HQ units alive.
- enemy unit spotted : can I know which of my unit(s) spotted the enemy ? can I do that while paused during turn resolution ?

You can check your units to see which one has LOS to which area of the map.
No, you cannot do this during the action resolution of the turn.

Good Hunting.

You can rearrange the OOB at will. Is there a stacking penalty for having too many units under one HQ or is the only downside to re-arranging things the potential chaos if the one HQ serving everyone gets hit (I presume there's a greater chance of it being detected due to extra radio traffic in and out as well)?

Yes that HQ with too many attachments will have much higher radio traffic and be a prime target for Arty/Air strikes against it.

Hello Mr. Mad Russian,

first, thanks for your awesome responsiveness on this forum.
Like in real life they only affect the units under their command.

It seems that I can just re-assign them freely to the the closest command HQ without seemingly any penalty
is that correct ?

ok but still, I cannot explain a 2 minutes turn ...

Was this 2 minute turn in a single player game or a head to head/PBEM game?

Why we are taking questions, what are the numbers for when you do Line of sight. Guessing the higher the number the more you can see?

Dorb, basically a percentage of how visible the hex is. The ones with number you can see into. Low numbers effect have an effect on combat since enemies are tougher to spot and track.
