LCU disband rules

Post by Jorge_Stanbury »

I am having some trouble disbanding land units and I hope to get some information, as the manual is vague:

Disband Unit: page 184
If located at a base with greater than 100,000 supplies or in a key base (Delhi,
Auckland, Sydney, Vladivostok, San Francisco, Osaka or Tokyo), then the player may manually
disband units which will return 100% of active devices to the pool and 50% of disabled devices.
If in a key base this is free; if in a base with 100,000 supplies it will cost a portion of the units
VP value. The player is given the option whether or not to have the unit disbanded rebuilt in 180
days as an administrative cadre.

Is there any restriction on which units will and which won't disband?
Looking at my "key bases" or bases over >100K supplies, I cannot see any consistent pattern; [S]tatic units seems to be impossible to disband, and that is fine, as I can see some gamey tactics allowed if not.
But I see it is possible to disband some [R]estricted units, but somehow I cannot disband other "Unrestricted" units.

I am playing DBB-C

I can't disband any unit on this list; the base is at >700K supplies

LCUs which have withdrawal dates cannot be disbanded.

I am not sure; look at this one:

Maybe it is scenario specific?

You can not disband a unit that will withdraw.

You can withdraw a unit assigned to a restricted command if it is not permanently assigned. That means if the command name is in yellow, you can disband it.

Thanks!

so if we want to build a set of rules:

- You cannot disband units assigned to permanent restricted
- You cannot disband units with a withdraw date
- You can only disband units at the following key based: Delhi, Auckland, Sydney, Vladivostok, San Francisco, Osaka and Tokyo

I guess one last question is are these key bases nationality specific? in other words, can you withdraw a USA unit on Sydney? if not, then what happens to Canadian units? is Vancouver missing from the list? or are they assumed to be "British" and then you need to move them to Karachi?

thanks

EDIT: I just found one unit that broke the rules [:(]

maybe it is something to do with HQs not allowed to withdraw?

Jorge, I'd like to warn you against allowing upgrades for units that are req'd to withdraw. Your screenshot of the 5th Aus Bgd shows 'Upgrade allowed', but note the blue-text 'Withdraw in 841 days out of theater'. The 'out of theater' indicates that when this unit withdraws, its devices won't return to the pools - so if you allow it to upgrade, its upgraded devices will be permanently lost when it withdraws.

Unless you're faced w/ a situation that needs the add'l combat power, it's not groovy to allow this unit to upgrade, given the low build-rate of British-sourced devices. Much better to spend those devices on units that will be around for the duration!

Thanks!
you are right, I should put that unit on "no upgrade";
I am not too worried about that particular brigade, as 841 days is an eternity; but I will still change it and every other LCU that is not likely to face combat
