A guess: auxiliary minesweeper, probably Aussie. Picture looks older than WWII.

Looks like a paravane on the stern.

One of a gazillion similar vessels, often of War-I vintage. Many were refered to by the RN as Castle class trawlers. Lots of them in AE.
