Well, "Oniks" from SM-346 , "Calibr" from 533mm TT

about article:

Very "general" article, too much "water", too little information.
as example according to Admiral Viktor Chirkov 20 "Granit" will be replaced by 80 "Oniks" (or more precisely 80 cells UKSK)
you can find this information with 5 minutes in google ,but journalists ...

about "Nakhimov" air defence
all this S-500,S-400, "Poliment-Redut" speculation is, well, rumors (not very reliable)
Some information start appearing only in april 2015 when 2014 annual report from "Almaz-Antey" will be released

According to this: http://news.usni.org/2014/10/28/u-s-nav ... ttack-boat

Pr. 885 can use following missiles:

The boat has 24 missile tubes which can carry the supersonic NPO Mashinostroyeniya P-800 Oniks anti-ship missile which can hit targets roughly 200 nautical miles away. Severodvinsk can also carry Novator RK-55 Granat nuclear-capable 1,600 nautical mile-range subsonic land attack cruise missiles. Additionally, the Yasen-class boats can also launch the 3M14 Kalibr and 3M54 Biryuza land attack and anti-ship missiles, which have a roughly 300-mile range, though its torpedo tubes.

Well, well, well, what I have [:)]

"Sevmash" disclose information on the state contract for the modernization of "Nakhimov"
in russian :http://zakupki.gov.ru/223/plan/public/d ... id=1135179

So what are they buying

UKSUR 3R-14H-11442M - 120 million rubles. [UKSK fire control system]
Product 3S-14 - 1.2 billion rubles. [UKSK launchers]
SM-456-22350 - 88 million rubles. [set of tools for UKSK reloading]

Product 3M-48 - 120 million rubles. [anti-air missile system S-300FM]
3M87-1F complex - 280 million rubles. [modification of ZRAK Kortik M]
3P87-1F, 4387-2F - 80 million rubles. [combat module ZRAK 3N87-1]
3P-86m - 75.2 million rubles. [control module ZRAK Kortik M]
MANAGEMENT information system of Air Defence - 80 million rubles.

MTPK Paket - 202.96 million. [mine and torpedo antisubmarine complex] (aka #2694 - Paket-NK in database)

RESU 5P-10 - 40 million. [fire control system "Puma"]
MEDC 5P-20K - 60 million rubles. [multifunctional electronic systems]
Product MR-650 - 144 million. [Radar "Podberezovik"]
Product 5P-30P - 70.9 million rubles. [Radar "Fregat"]
NRS MR 232-3, MK-54IS - 20 million rubles. [navigation radars, electronic chart display and information system]
NRS MR-231 - 10 million. [navigation radar]
Complex MTK-M1.2 201 - 200 million. [multifunctional optoelectronic television complex]
5P-28-11442M - 351.8 million. [EW complex TC-28]
Product Enchantress-18280 - 20 million rubles. [station VHF radio direction finding]
5P-23 - 40 million.
(there is no new radars for S-300FM but this contract only for 2015 year delivery)

System Minotaur ISPN-M.1 - 120 million rubles. [VDS, Active/Passive Variable Depth Sonar]
Equipment MGS-30M - 4 million. [emergency control system]
Sonar MG-757.3 - 14.6 million rubles. [lowerable GAS "Anapa-M"]
PHA-WG products Amga M - 10 million rubles. [GAS for receiving signals from sonobuoys ]

OK-650B-3 - 220 million rubles. [New reactor]

and etc
Keep in mind this contract only for 2015 year delivery, in 2016 and 2017 there will be the new contracts, but generally the picture is clear,
the only question is what will change "3R41 Volna" in its nests. Tombstone [30N6-1] as on "Petr Velikiy " or something more interesting.

So, summing up:

80 UKSK cells
2xS-300FM "Fort FM" = 92 48N6E2(aka 48N6M) instead of 2xS-300F "Fort"
"Nakhimov" have 4 outdated "Osa-M" systems so most likely they will be replaced by this "Kortik-M" systems
2x4 "Paket-NK" instead of 2x5 533mm TT
Radar "Podberezovik" instead of Top Pair [MR-800 Flag]
Radar "Fregat M2EM" instead of Top Plate [MR-710 Fregat]
System Minotaur ISPN-M.1 instead of Horse Tail [Polinom]
OK-650B-3 reactor instead of 2x KN-3 Nuclear Reactors

Well basically I think the picture is clear

Also...
80 UKSK cells

That would mean 10 of these modules:

Is there enough space/volume on the Kirovs to fit 10 of these? While also retaianing the S-300F/FM cells?

They're replacing the Granits, so it depends on whether ten of those are as big as twenty tubes of the latter.

That vessel is scheduled to return active in 2018, not earlier. This means 3 to 4 years from now on. So it is very much ok for reports to be vague.
Also we still talking military issues here. False or imprecise reports are normal business.[:'(]

Indeed 2018 has been the official schedule for a while:
Sevmash deputy head Sergei Marichev said in a statement in June 2013 that the Admiral Nakhimov would become the most advanced heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser in the Russian Navy. A press release at the time mentionned that the vessel should rejoin the fleet in 2018.

Originally four Kirov-class cruisers were built for the Soviet Navy. As of today only one vessel, the Pyotr Velikiy, is still operational. Russia initially planned to return two other Kirov-class vessels to service (in addition to Admiral Nakhilov) after several years of disuse. However, it was later indicated that the condition of the reactor cores of both ships was such that it would prove difficult, expensive and potentially dangerous to remove the spent nuclear fuel and repair the cores.

So it looks like they won't be fitted with naval S-400 after all

Most funny thing they modernize old "Kortik" into "Kortik-M" and buy more
If they change all 4 "Osa-M" to "Kortik-M" that means 10 "Kortik-M" altogether
10 "Kortik-M" modules, bad news for any subsonic missiles [:)]

Also, sorry if I put it unclear, it is 80 UKSK cells instead of 20 Granits
There is two type of modernization for "Granit" carriers

1)as on "Nakhimov" remove old SM-233 launchers and install new UKSK

2)as on project 949AM
This is more cheap modernization, based on this
Image
from article "More missiles for "Anteys"("Antey"=project 949):
"As told to "Vzgliad" in KBM "Mashinostroenia" from Reutov where "Granit" and "Onyx" created in one missile silo submarine 949 project can carry three new missiles "Onyx". As a result of the combat potential of the ship immediately increases from 24 to 72 cruise missiles."
http://vz.ru/society/2011/12/12/546136.html in russian
from state contract for modernization of submarine project 949A into project 949AM:
"3R-14PN UKSK fire control system"
http://zakupki.gov.ru/223/purchase/publ ... hodType=ep in russian

So "Granits" will be changed for "Onyx" and "Kalibr" everywhere

This will be a hell of a battlecruiser. 72 Kalibr or Onyx missiles?

But what will the SAM be? It is rumoured that it will retain its SARH S-300FM. No S-400F?
