Error logging in to Slitherine PBEM++

Post by TomBombadil711 »

Installed V2.06 yesterday. When I try to log in to the PBEM server an error message occurs:

"2014-11-23 14:12:59" is not a valid integer value

Tom, was that from a Matrix bought game or Steam version?

Thanks for reporting this. I just found the problem and it is in the way we read CSV strings that the PBEM++ server sends back to us. It is a problem with the new "Eyes, Ears and Teeth" scenario because (drum roll please) for the first time there is a comma in a scenario name and this caused the parsing of a comma separated value string to fall apart. Sheesh!

It is fixed and you will see it in 2.07. For now please avoid that one scenario if you are playing PBEM++.

Thanks, Rob

Tom, I will let Rob know in our Dev call tonight that it is stopping you with all scenarios. Are you getting the same error message for each? Also what OS and language are you using?

Sorry for the problem.

Yes, I will look further in the code then. I expect it is the same sort of error, just in a different place. I'll get it.

Thanks for following up and clarifying for us.

Cheers, Rob

I have put in two fixes now. One is when it reads the scenario names and data in the scenario list as described above, and then another where it lists all the challenges that have been posted. There is a chance that the integer conversion error was in the latter routine.

Is the failure you are both seeing when you first log on and before you see the challenges and games in progress? Or are you able to log in but it is when you are playing the game or uploading / downloading the game that it dies? I'm pretty sure it is the first case from your descriptions but I just want to confirm it.

Thanks, Rob C

In my case the error occurs before I see the challenges.

I'm up and running again on PBEM++ I checked it out on my desktop which runs Windows 8.1. Will check out the laptop shortly.

I do get an annoying error when first launching the game where it says there is no disk in drive e. Game launches after I click any of the keys about 3 times. Like I said, annoying, but not fatal.

Possibly related is that after accepting a challenge and setting up, when I try to send the turn it also gives an error message - that sufficient data was sent. This happens after receiving the described error message above when logging in to the server for PBEM.

No idea if this is related or not.

Bluth, did the 2.07 hotfix fix this issue or is this with 2.07?
