Elements of 36th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, B and C Companies of 23rd Combat Engineer Battalion spread out in order to defending the main route(s) and then denying elements of 1st GDS Tank Regiment, 216th AA Regiment, and 1321st MRR to breach the minefield line in order to gain an access to the main route to west. 1/C/4, 2/C/4 and 3/C/4 67th Armored also were spread out in order to mixing in with elements of 36th Mechanized Infantry Regiments. In first 30 intense minutes, Elements of 36th Mechanized Infantry Regiment, and C/4 67th Armored reported 228 kills: 9 recon, 5 tanks, 89 Mech, 73 Inf, 6 SPAT, 4 AT, 24 HQs, 14 AD and 4 Transport.
In next 30 intense minutes, 1/1 1321st MRR, 2/1 1321st MRR, 3/1 1321st and 1/AT 1321st MRR were successfully breached into the minefield line, and but were stopped by small elements of MTR 1 of 36th Mechanized Regiment. Elements of MTR 1/36th reported 10 kills: 5 APC, 4 Infantry and 1 HQ with one loss: M106A2! Elements of 36th Mechanized Regiment, and C/4 67th Armored reported another 66 kills, and forced elements of 1321st MRR and 1st GDS Tank Regiment to withdraw, and passing the control to NATO.
