help with switches please

Post by dereck »

I recently moved up to a Dell Alienware 17 laptop and I'm trying to get my WITP to work in the same type of window mode I had on my old laptop.

On my old laptop the screen resolution was 1680x1050 and I had the switches "-pxf1675 -pyf1000" to window it but still allow me to see the windows menu bar.

When I try to run the same switch in my new laptop with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 it just shows up in normal window mode.

I'm still on 1.7.11.20b (I know it's OLD but I like that version for now). It worked on my old Gateway but now won't on my new Dell.

Any suggestions? Thanks

This is what I'm using:

-SingleCpuOrders -cpu8 -dd_sw -archive -w -pxf1900 -pfy100

The only two differences are the cpu and the resolution. I want to play around with it to get the WITP:AE window so i can still see my menu bar. I can do it on my old Gateway laptop but it doesn't work at all on my Dell Alienware.

No that still didn't work. This is very strange why ti works on one laptop and not on another.

In your switch line
-pxf1675 -pyf1000

Where did the "f" come from?

Should it not be
-px1675 -py1000 with no "f" in the string.

I have an Alienware 17 laptop that's about 3/4years old, so I'm on Win7, so it could be different. Anyway I don't bother to run in a window mode because there's a window button on the bottom left of the keyboard that when hit will minimize the game screen. Then prest-o change-o I've got my windows menu bar. No fuss, no muss just loaded and played. If all you're looking for is your windows menu bar try it.

Dereck - two possibilities.

1. You have a typo (several typos) in your switches. If you copied and pasted the above, then your "-pfy100" should read "-pyf1000".

2. Obvious suggestion, but I have to ask since you're still having problems. Are you applying your switches to the correct executable? (Very easy to forget that the switches need to be applied to the "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" instead of the "autorun.exe" shortcut.)

Good luck. -Quixote
