Does the AI ever BOL a torp at detection?

Post by kaburke61 »

I don't think I have ever seen the AI launch a torpedo(es) down the bearing of a just-detected incoming
enemy torpedo (assuming of course it has not detected the launch platform previously).

Does it? Should it? (sometimes?)

Below features in beta 579 that should help that. Check it out when we go public
* If an inbound torpedo is detected where no submarine contact is held, a presumed submarine contact is auto-generated on the assumption that the torp came from _somewhere_. The initial AoU for the presumed sub contact has a 10nm radius and expands with time as with normal detections. Likewise, if a sub-launched missile is detected _immediately_ after launch (within 1nm of its firing submarine) then a sub contact is generated with a 1nm-radius AoU. This helps surface/sub forces under sub attack to respond quickly to the attack even without having positively detected the attacker (and hopefully kills the player sub "sniping" cheat).

Cool. With a 10nm AoU though, will the AI be able to BOL at it (if ROEs are set right?)?

New ROE that allows you and bit brains to shoot out to full range.
