Boardgame Map Question

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Boardgame Map Question

Post by bott.2 »

I have version 1.38
Is there a way to make the Frontier Firefights and The Commanding Heights boardgame maps to look similar to the Awaken the Bear and Storms of Steel boardgame maps?

Bott,
No the Commanding Heights and Frontier Firefights do not have the board game style maps.
Just the ATB, SOS, and GD maps come with board game variants.
The board game style maps are completely new artwork.

Ok, ATB and SOS are dead as pc wargames and the support is vanished but I have the insane desire to play them again. I like the giant boardgames maps (basic ones are very ugly) but they are loaded for ATB only, not for SOS, I installed the v. 1.38 patch, disinstalled and reinstalled the stuff with no luck, any idea?

Really can't put my finger mn what it is thats missing for me when playing it. With the big boardgame maps it looks 100% better than with the original maps so it isn't it's visuals. Also it doesn't seem to have any major problem with mechanics unlike Lock n Load with it's bizarre spotting rules that got against tactical combat and even more so combat in built up areas. The Germans even had a word for the method of pouring fire into buildings that are likely to be defended, "auf verdacht". Infact it was during Stalingrad a report on German tactics for urban combat was drawn up and this was one of the tactics used.

I think I'd have liked to have had leaders as this adds some personality and immersion into a tactical wargame.

For small unit infantry engagements Squad Battles beats LnL and CoH.. shame it doesn't lock like one these games though.

Hopefully Mr Grigsby will stop all this nonsense with those silly big scale wargames and get down to making a monster tactical wargame.

ATS and Squad Leader (ASL for other guys too but not for me) beat all the pc tactical games but I paid for them and it could be cool to be able to play them sometimes! :D

It's been a while, but I think the Giant boards are only available for the original ATB board game scenarios.

But some screenshots (the first two) show giant boards: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/473 ... s.of.Steel

I confused boardgame style maps with giant ones...
