RE: A global wat - 2
Why did the US keep picking options with its tension levels so high? Once I have Gear Up and both tension pools over 17, I don't pick anything until War Appropriations. Each turn early for War Appropriations gets you over 40 extra build points over the course of the game, so is worth far more than any and all other options.
I thought I knew how to play this game....
RE: A global wat - 2
Good point about the US options with high tension.
My concern this time was resources to Russia although with the Germans limited advances in July/August perhaps that was not that urgent.

I count 51bp loss, this is too much. USSR must review it's defense doctrine.

RE: A global wat - 2
Yes, the May/Jun losses were high, I tried the strong city defenses which cost the Germans time and a few losses and slowed their march east.
The July/August losses were not as bad and the line Smolensk and Dniepr river line held reasonable well.
September/October will be crucial, bad weather would be welcome and as it turns out the first impulse was mainly rain.
The Russians now will have to decide how to run and preserve forces. The Germans have spent a lot of oil are a bit tight already.
